Original typewritten caption reads: "Cotton was so cheap in Alabama during the 1914-1915 winter that owners did not pay storage charges on same, but left it out in the mud for several months as shown herewith. Photographs taken at Eufaula, Feb. 23, 1915. The cotton had been stored in middle of street since October and in rainy weather rivulets of water flowed around and under the bales."
