Original caption reads, in part: "Size 10 x 10 x 31, with cement foundation and clay floor. Construction is as follows: outside lumber 1x8 maple wood with bats. Inside is made of match flooring. Corners are rounded by cutting out a 2x6 and placing it across corners. Frameworks consists of 2x8 girts placed horizontally with short vertical blocks of the same dimension between them... The cost of the silo was approx $120,000. Mr. Fox is using salt around the edges of silo, the idea being that the salt is carried into the wood by the juices of silage and helps preserve the wood."
