Harvey, lost his life in the waters of the Tenn River, April 19, 1862 while [unreadable]. The Hon. E Salomon, on assuming the duties of his Office as Governor, appointed Thursday May 1st 1862 as a day of public rest, and recommended to the people of the State to assemble in their respective towns, cities, and villages, to commemorate the death of the late Governor, by public demonstrations appropriate to the occasion."
