Red Cross Peacetime Activities
The work of the Red Cross in time of peacetime disaster is one of its least publicized services. Pictured are Mrs. Dale (Rose) Gibbs, one of the victims of a November 26, 1948 fire on Bedford Street, shown visiting the Red Cross offices with her three-year-old son, Steven, to share her experiences receiving aid from the Red Cross during that disaster with Miss Lois Pate, center, field director, and Mrs. Betty Hurst, right, home services director, both of the Dane County Red Cross at Truax Field. |
