David Hunter
Engraved quarter-length carte-de-visite portrait of Major General David Hunter. David Hunter as promoted to Major General in August 1861 and was appointed Commander of the Western Department on November 2, 1861. The following winter and spring he was transferred to command the Department of Kansas and then to the Department of the South. In the spring of 1864 he was given the command of the Army of the Shenandoah. |
