Waist-up carte-de-visite portrait of Captain Nathaniel Marsh Edwards. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on July 5, 1837. 1st New York Volunteer Engineers on November 8, 1861 and on October 10 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. Later, on February 24, 1864 he became a 1st Lieutenant, followed 11 months later on January 12, 1865 with the promotion to the rank of Captain. He was discharged from the 1st New York Volunteer Engineers on July 19, 1865. In 1866 he was sent to Wisconsin to take charge of Green Bay and Mississippi Canal Company from 1866-1871 as chief engineer and superintendent. |
