Glass Collection
A display of glass barber's bottles in the home of the photographer. There are examples of blown glass in a variety of painted, iridescent, and hobnail designs. These bottles, with dispensing stoppers, were once common in barber shops. In 1906, however, the Pure Food and Drug Act made it illegal for barbers to refill bottles of lotions and tonics, making these bottles obsolete. On the lowest shelf are two sets of barber's bottles with matching waste "vases." |
