Jethro Coffin Home Keeping Room

View of the keeping room in the Jethro Coffin home. Jethro Coffin was a blacksmith and the grandson of one of the island's first white settlers, Tristam Coffin. Built in 1686 the house remains the oldest house on Nantucket. Room features a brick fireplace, table, several Shaker-style chairs and a child's Shaker-style chair. A hanging kettle is in the fireplace, and a bedwarmer is next to the fireplace. |
