Agricultural Extension Lecturer at Meeting

Agricultural Extension Lecturer at Meeting | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
International Harvester Agricultural Extension Department employee W.R. Baughman talking to a small meeting in Dupage County during the Alfalfa Campaign. A group of men and boys are gathered in front of a building that has a sign that reads: "Gale Farm Tools". The company's policy, developed by Professor Holden, was to go to the country to hold meetings and lectures. The policy is described as follows in the original caption: "It is better to talk to a small crowd of fifteen interested farmers that really want information than to have a crowd of two or three thousand that don't care anything about growing alfalfa, or that are not interested in the proposition. It is the Holden Ideas brought in again in the play [sic] of going through the country to hold their meetings. If you want to help people go where they are to help them with their own problems under their own conditions."
