Peggy Algren (b. 1943) and her father Henry Lawrence Ahlgren at her graduation from the University of Wisconsin in 1966. At the time Henry Ahlgren was a University of Wisconsin professor and served on the Public Functions committee, which planned graduation. Part of his duties was serving as a commencement marshal, whose job was to guide the flow of students on stage. He wore his red academic gown and mortarboard while working as a marshal.
