The original caption reads: "Two C-60's owned by Art. Roose, of Poulsbo, Wash., being used in the logging business at a section of this state known as Dabob Bay. These trucks are assisting with a selective logging operation where only hemlock and fir are being taken from the woods. This work is carried on over only temporary roads that approach the cut timbers as closely as possible and where the trucks can be loaded as conveniently as possible. The loads vary considerably, running from 4,000 to about 6,000 feet. Each load has to be hauled a distance of approximately three miles over these same temporary roads and they are finally dumped into the water on Dabob Bay where they are assembled into rafts to be towed to the various mills of the Chas. R. McCormick Lumber Co., one of the largest lumber operators in the world." |
