Rev. Wright at Emmett Till Murder Trial

Rev. Moses Wright and his son Simon outside the Sumner courthouse where two white men were on trial for the murder of 14 year-old Emmett Till (Wright's nephew), for allegedly whistling at a white woman. The two defendants had abducted Till from Wright's farmhouse where Till and Simon Wright were sleeping in the same room. Despite Rev. Wright's brave identification of the men at the trial, the two defendants were acquitted. |
