A less well-known variation of the iconic photo by Dorothy Lange, "Migrant Mother" for the Resettlement Administration during the Depression. This digital image was made from the original poor quality, retouched print released by Acme Newspictures on March 10. 1936. "Starving Field Workers Succcored After Layoff. Approximatley 1000 itinerant field workers and their families were discovered in a state of starvation near Nipomo, California, leaving them with but two days' work in six weeks, and a month to wait for other work. Relief agencies rushed food to the migrants who spend the spring, summer and fall harvesting the crops througnhout California. Photo shows one of the families in their sorry dwelling.
