The original caption reads: "PA-40 owned and operated by Bert Rubeck & Son, Poland, Indiana, on sawmill. Average consumption of fuel, 20 gallons of gas in 8 hours. Operating 50-inch circle saw, rip saw, and planer at the same time. From latter part of July to October 28 made 2500 apple crates, requiring 3500 pounds of nails, 80,000 feet of logs. Other portions of year makes screen doors and chicken coops and saws lumber to specifications for contracts. Power formerly used was an engine from an old McCormick-Deering 15-30 farm tractor. Reason for changing, more power required. This is the only job on which prints were not sent to the operators in exchange for releases." |
