Merci Train French Doll Exhibit

Nine dolls dressed in costumes of provincial France, donated by their French owners in gratitude to the people of Wisconsin for their contribution to the Friendship train of 1947, are arranged on display. The large doll in the center is from Burgundy. The others, from left to right in the top row, are from Arles of Provence; Alsace Loriane, Provence, and Loraine, and on the bottom row, Savoy, Provence, Basque, and Brittany. The University of Wisconsin Extension Bureau of Information and Program Services to whom the dolls have been entrusted will send the collection out for display to interested Wisconsin residents. |
