Crombie & Company Truck
An International L-180 truck owned by Crombie & Company fruit and vegetable dealers parked beside a warehouse in front of a door marked, "3." A woman is standing just inside the door. The original caption reads: "Crombie & Company, wholesale fruit and vegetable dealers of El Paso, Texas, recently purchased the L-180 International shown which brings the total of their fleet to 28 units, 25 of which are Internationals. The truck is shown beside its big El Paso warehouse, the water tower on top of the building being part of a cooling system to control temperatures in the warehouse. This refrigeration is sufficient to care for 45 carloads of produce. The new L-180 shown has a wheelbase of 145 inches and is one of 14 tractor trucks operated by the concern. Deliveries are made within a radius of 300 miles as far north as Tecumcari and as far east as Midland. Fourteen long distance routes are maintained. The 22-foot Fruehauf trailer shown is of stainless steel with inside width 7-1/2 feet and height 6 feet 6 inches. The concern of Crombie & Company was formed in 1905. W.S. Crombie, Sr. is president, W.S. Crombie, Jr., vice president, and O.C. McConnell, secretary and truck supervisor." |
