Filling an International Coal Truck

Man uses an excavator to fill an International KBS-7 dump truck with coal. Behind the excavator is a steep hill with trees on top. The coal is being handled by Paul Haul of Bridgeport, West Virginia, the contract hauler for Indian Coal Company of Taylor County, West Virginia. The specifications for the KBS-7 include a 146-inch wheelbase, BLD-269 engine, F-51-C transmission, Eaton 2-speed rear axle, Penn body and hoist, a capacity of 10 yards and an average haul of 9 tons over a 7-mile round trip from the loading zone with shovel to railroad tipple, and about 4 miles of dirt road operation. |
