Teacher and Students participating in World War II Scrap Drive

Eight North Bright School pupils and teacher filling International truck and trailer with scrap metal collected for salvage drive during Governor Julius P. Heil's MacArthur Week. The school was three miles from Owen in Clark County. Marie Carpenter of Abbotsford was the teacher and had twenty-three pupils ranging in age from five to twelve years. The children collected enough scrap to fill the truck and a big trailer. Miss Carpenter said they were planning to buy a hot plate and other articles from the proceeds. |
