Tzi-Kal-Tza

Tzi-Kal-Tza, Nez Perce, seated outdoors with a rifle across his lap. The original photo is attributed to the William Henry Jackson collection (PH 252 (3)), in that collection there is no mention of William Clark. A ca. 1890s reproduction of the original image includes some biographical information that claims that Tzi-Kal-Tza is the son of Captain William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark expedition. This claim is made by Nathaniel Pitt Langford and he claims it was verified by Granville Stewart, Historical Society of Montana. All this information is printed on the verso of the photograph. |
