Matrix Banquet; 20th Annual
Five women chatting informally before the annual Matrix Banquet at Memorial Union. They are, left to right: Mrs. Lyman Dunn, Chicago, national president of Theta Sigma Phi; Betty Hansche, president of the UW chapter; Prof. Helen Patterson, chapter adviser; Lisa Sergio, the guest speaker, and Mrs. Oscar Rennebohm, wife of the governor. The 20th Annual Matrix dinner was sponsored by Theta Sigma Phi, a honorary and professional journalism sorority. The speaker, Lisa Sergio was an Italian-born journalist who fled fascist Mussolini's Italy to become an American citizen. She called on America to use its selling genius to "sell" democracy abroad. |
