Interior view of the Jefferson Public Library. The library opened in 1910 and was funded by Andrew Carnegie with a gift of $10.000. Throughout the room are reading tables and chairs, a librarian's desk, and bookshelves. Windows line the room just below the ceiling above the bookshelves. Additional notes from "New Types of Small Library Buildings, 1913." ARCHITECTS - Claude & Starck, Madison, Wis. COST - $9,500. FUNDING SOURCE - Andrew Carnegie, $10,000. CONSTRUCTION - Original style. Stone basement; mission brick above stucco gables; slate roof; plate and art glass; oak finish first story; basement yellow pine; electric lights; steam heat. DIMENSIONS - 60'x34'. CAPACITY - 6,000 volumes. Identical floor plan to Reedsburg Public Library. Floor plans included. |
