South Shore Methodist Church Mortgage Burning
A mortgage burning ceremony was held at the South Shore Methodist Church, 610 Olin Avenue, and more than 100 persons participated. The church was built and founded as the People's Community Church in 1895. Taking prominent parts in the rites were (left to right) the Reverend W. Ross Connor, district supervisor of the Methodist church; the Reverend A.D. Willett, pastor of the church; Bishop H. Clifford Northcott, Methodist bishop of Wisconsin; Mrs. E. Cunningham, representing the Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS); Mrs. Rose Keppler, of the Ladies Sunday school guild; and Harold Hayes, representing the church trustees. |
