Scrap Drive at International Harvester Dealership
Six men stand outside around a pile of scrap metal in front of the F.V. Russell McCormick-Deering dealership. The metal was collected for a wartime scrap drive. The original caption reads: "This picture shows the results of three days of scrap gathering by F.V. Russell, IHC dealer, Lowell, Indiana. Last Thursday Mr. Russell and his men began. They went out with trucks to farms and demanded the scrap that farmers declared before they had no time to collect. Before this week is out the pile may be much bigger. Mr. Russell piled the scrap in the street right in front of his place of business. Men showing are left to right as follows: Harold Sorensen, F.V. Russell, J.L. McKinney, Lewis Starr, Junior Nichols, and W.E. Bruce." |
