| The original caption reads: "We are enclosing herewith a set of prints from negatives H-7648 and H-7649 showing a D-35 truck with special body and 179" wheelbase and overdrive. The body of this truck has been so constructed that 1,000 6-quart baskets of fruit can be packed snugly so that at a journey's end no bruising has taken place. Mr. Joseph Pillitteri of Peachacre Farm, R.R. No.1, Jordan Stn., Ontario, owner of this truck, tells me that it makes a daily run to Toronto and its suburbs, a distance of 200 miles for the round trip, from early in the cherry harvest time up until the peaches and grapes have been picked. By making this trip, 5 cents extra per basket can be obtained for his fruit, making a tidy sum of $50.00 per load which soon paid for the truck. Mr. Pillitteri has 50-acres of fruit which keeps the truck busy for most of the year at one thing or another." |
