Studio Portrait of the Windblow Sisters and Infant
Full-length studio portrait in front of a painted backdrop of two young Ho-Chunk women and a Ho-Chunk infant. The woman sitting on the left is wearing regalia, and the woman standing on the right is wearing contemporary clothing. The infant is in a papoose on the floor between the two women. They are identified as Sarah B. Windblow Thundercloud (HeChoWinKah), sitting next to her sister Nellie Windblow Decorah (HaWePinWinKah), who is dressed in a white school uniform, ca. 1909. Sarah’s son Lawrence Leonard Thundercloud (CooNooKah), is sleeping comfortably in a Ho-Chunk cradleboard. |
