The man is posing sitting, and the woman is standing beside him and is wearing a scarf on her head and a shawl around her shoulders. She is holding the man's hat in front of her. They are both wearing modern dress. Identified as John Dick (DoWjhGeNaNoKah), and his wife Mary Manly-Mallory (Breeze) Dick (HaJaKeePaNaWinKah). They had a son named Melvin G. Dick who was born in 1923. According to Tomah Indian School's Indian Census Roll in 1933, the Dicks were under the jurisdiction of Winnebago, Nebraska. They were possibly members of the Wisconsin Rapids band, and their surname was formerly Breeze according to the notes of Jackson County Historical Society, Wisconsin. |
