A Menominee village as depicted by Francois, Comte de Castelnau, a French naturalist and diplomat who visited the Green Bay area about 1838. The detailed, hand-colored lithograph appeared in his book, "Vues et Souvenirs de l'Amerique du Nord," which was published in Paris in 1842. Folle-Avoines is an early French name for the Menominee. |
