The original caption reads: "Photographs taken of Mr. W.F. Rieschick on his farm three miles northeast of Falls City, Nebraska. Mr. Rieschick owns and operates 328 acres divided as follows: 111 in corn, 40 in sargo and cane, 28 in wheat, 20 in oats, and 27 in alfalfa. With his M tractor he has practically all new tools. He has had no breakage in the year he has run the tractor. He uses 15 gallons of tractor fuel at 7 1/2 cents per gallon in a ten-hour day. With his 2-16 No.8 plow he covers 11 acres in 10 hours. With his 8-foot, 18-inch blade disk he covers 28 acres in 10 hours. He says that he uses his tractor more than 10 months in the year, and says he can have a picture for us every month if we want it. He farms a lot of bottom land. You can see some of the water standing in the field he is plowing. (He had to pull me into the field to take these pictures). He claims that the lugs are the only wheels he can use. Maybe so and maybe not, you probably know the answer to that one." |
