University of Wisconsin-Madison Student Housing Project

Elevated view of University of Wisconsin-Madison student housing project at Monroe Street. There was housing at Monroe Street and Randall Avenue for married veterans in the Camp Randall vicinity. Living units were trailers and army-style prefabs. There were two other such student housing projects, one at Badger Ordnance Works near Baraboo, and one at Truax Air Field in Madison. These living conditions were necessary because of the severe post-war housing shortage. |
