Man Viewing Model Display at "100 Years in Chicago"
A man views a model of an early header. Original caption reads: "This display of the 'header,' a machine that preceded today's modern combine, brings back memories of early days to Burridge R. Butler, publisher, "Prairie Farmer" as he visits the historical tent in International Harvester's '100 Years in Chicago' exposition at the south end of Soldier Field. The 'header' was operated by four horses. The horses pushed the machine ahead of them. The machine harvested the grain heads only and left the straw in the field." |
