Moving Lumber with an I-12 Tractor
Man pulls a lumber dolly with an International I-12 tractor owned by A.N. Foote Lumber Company. According to the original caption, the dolly was "loaded with 700 board feet, (2,400 ponds) of cypress, which can be hauled at the rate of 10 miles an hour, if desired. Twice as big a load as this can easily be handled by the tractor." |

Original caption further reads: "Mr. Foote states 'I don't see how a man can operate a lumber yard without one of these. It does the work of four mules and four drivers when loaded as you see it, and the work of eight mules and four drivers when it's loaded to capacity. Years ago I owned about 95 mules, mostly for use in the forest. But I've given up mules completely now. Most of the time I had sixteen to twenty sick mules on my hands-and thats what any man using mules has to figure on.' |
