Man Operating T-40 Crawler Tractor with Bulldozer
Man operates an International T-40 crawler tractor. Original caption reads: "International T-40 TracTracTor equipped with Bucyrus-Erie bulldozer and Tulsa winch owned by Helmerich and Payne Inc., drilling contractors of 1702 Philtower Building, Tulsa, Oklahoma, building slush pit in Salem field. Pit is 75-feet long, 5-feet deep and 9-feet 2-inches wide. Soil is gumbo clay. A "complete set" (two slush pits this size and also a reserve pit) can be dug in 2 hours, but usual time is about 3 hours. This outfit has dug 70 "complete sets" in Illinois fields. Operator rollers on other makes of crawler tractors, and that for speed, ease of handling, and low cost, "there is nothing like International and Bucyrus-Erie" for slush pits. The winch has been used time and time again during the past winter for pulling trucks and other heavy equipment out of the mud." |
