International Harvester Diesel Tractor
Two men operate an International Harvester Diesel Tractor. Original caption reads: "International Diesel tractor with dual pneumatic tires and new type of Allen 10-foot heavy-duty maintainer owned by Nassau County, Florida, and used for maintaining roads at a speed of 7 to 10 miles per hour. New features of the maintainer include hydraulic pressure to keep the blade from shattering, and side runners which serve as depth gauges. Once over with this maintainer does same quality of work as two to four times over with a 12-foot maintainer which was formerly used by the county and which did not have these features. The Diesel tractor uses only 1 1/2 gallons of 7-cent fuel an hour and has operated approximately 5,000 hours with a repair expense of only $15." |
