Gold Star Parents at Memorial Concert
The University of Wisconsin honored the dead of four wars with a concert presented by the University Symphony orchestra and chorus that was attended by some of the parents of soldiers, sailors and marines who gave their lives in the service of their country. Pictured left to right: Professor William Kiekhofer, chair of the University of Wisconsin centennial committee that sponsored the event; Dr. H.H. Morton, Dodgeville, whose son, Donald Morton, died of injuries suffered on a training flight at Gowan field in Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jarvis, Richland Center, whose son Lieut. Walter Jarvis Jr. was killed in Japan, and Mrs. Arthur Hays, Portaqe, whose son, Tech. Sgt. Glen Hays, was killed in the Mediterranean area. All the young men mentioned were in the US Air Force. |
