Reunited after seven years of wartime separation, Mrs. Isabel Llerandi and her five younger children spent a week together in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Ramisch, Middleton, loaned to them for the occasion. From left to right they are, seated, Felipe (a university sophomore who lives with Mr. & Mrs. Charles Bunn), Mrs. Llerandi, and Mary (age 16 who lives with Mr. & Mrs Henry Ramisch); standing, Sarita (a university co-ed who lives with Mr. & Mrs Grant Haas), Julian (a university sophomore who lives with Mr. & Mrs. Frank Rentz) and Rogelio (a Central High School junior who lives with Mr. & Mrs. Gilman Page).
DESCRIPTION
Reunited after seven years of wartime separation, Mrs. Isabel Llerandi and her five younger children spent a week together in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Ramisch, Middleton, loaned to them for the occasion. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Published in the "Wisconsin State Journal" on Feb. 27, 1949. During the Spanish Civil War, Mrs. Llerandi and six of her children were forced to flee from Spain to southern France. When World War II broke out the Quakers arranged for the five younger children to come to the U.S. Mrs. Llerandi and her oldest daughter remained in Europe. The Committee for the Care of European Refugee Children brought the children to Madison in 1942.
