First Train Ride Provided by Fun Fund
Roundy's Fun Fund and the Milwaukee Road provided forty children from the remedial department of the Madison public schools with their first train ride to Janesville. Riding in a brand new deluxe coach, they enjoyed refreshments and a lunch. Their escorts were: Carl Waller, superintendent of the schools handicapped children department; Rufus F. Wells, Fun Fund committee chairman, and Mrs. Wells; Bernard Gill committee secretary and Mrs. Gill; Mrs. Edith Goodman, Roundy Coughlin's secretary; three teachers; the railroad's district passenger agent and two uniformed railroad police officers. |
