The Annie Girdon

Sidewheel rafter, Annie Girdon. The crew is on deck and a raft of logs is in the foreground. Sign on wheel reads Annie Girdon, lightning packet of Menomonie. Capt. Dan Davison is on the upper deck near stacks. Pilot William Wooden in the Pilot House. Clerk Chas N. Edwards forward by crate that held check lines. Harvey Black and wife, cooks, on stern. The Indian on horseback "going like the wind," with drawn bow, was painted by G. Ordemann of Menomonie, Wisconsin. When the boat was repainted at Rock Island in the spring of 1871, the painter painted out the Indian and the words Lightning Packet of Menomonie-and could not reproduce them. |
