Page 14 of 70. Prophecy on page 13 reads, "Signor Tellini writes, "A pitiful fate awaites [sic] one of your school mates. Out on the corner of State and Madison Streets in Chicago she may be seen at any time though many may not realize who she is. It is not strange for who could recognize this faded old women [sic], playing "Pilgrim's Chorous" [sic] on the accordion to earn enough pennies to keep her alive? It is Emma Olson; she has been brought to this sad plight by two expensive vices; an inordinate love of chewing gum and in consequence a passionate devotion to slot machines." Emma Olson married Wallace Crawford in June 1913, and the couple lived in Rice County, Minnesota. She died shortly after the class reunion of 1955. Information about Emma Olson has been researched through contemporary newspaper articles and genealogical resources. |
