Mary Rennebohm
Mary Rennebohm, wife of Governor Oscar Rennebohm, is shown dressed in a nineteenth century gown and bonnet while serving as a hostess at the opening day of the Women's Building at the Centennial Exposition. The gown, fashioned of heavy plaid silk in muted tones of grey and lavender, was worn in 1850 by Mrs. L.M. Hank's paternal grandmother, Mrs. Levi Baker Vilas, who was married in Vermont in 1838. Mrs. Vilas, who had eight sons and one daughter, lived on North Henry Street, when her home was the only house in the area. |
