Per an email (11/5/10) from Bob Dickey, the band's tour manager, the opening band, Ox, began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1967. The blues-rock trio developed a strong following playing high school dances and CYOs and later, clubs such as The Stone Toad, O'Brads (aka East Village & Humpin Hanna's) and The Avant Garde. As their popularity grew, they performed regularly at rock festivals, colleges, and bars throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. They opened for national acts, including The Grateful Dead, Ten Years After, Procol Harum, Joe Cocker, and The Steve Miller Blues Band. The group disbanded in the summer of 1972.
