Pictured are a group at the Yacht Club dance, one of the festivities of the University of Wisconsin's first intercollegiate sailing regatta. Left to right: Dick Dugdale, Madison; Joan Kirk, Oakland, California; Shirely Onstad, Wausau, social chair of the Hoofers and chair of the dance, and Roy Haase, Milwaukee. Five universities that are members of the Midwestern Collegiate Yacht Association--Wisconsin, Michigan, Purdue, Ohio State and Denison--were in Madison to compete in the Hoofer invitational, one of the series of big regattas being held among colleges of the Midwest. |
