Universal Safety Cartoon

A cartoon from an International Harvester operator's manual. The cartoon contains the heading: "Take Time to Take Care In the operation of tractors and implements". The cartoon depicts a man with his arm in a sling and using a crutch, saying: "I tried riding the drawbar, doggone IT!!" while passing a sign that says: "Always ride on the tractor seat". A caption below the cartoon reads: "ONE CARELESS ACT of the operator can wipe out all the efforts of the safety-pledged designer, manufacturer and inspector. The best safety device is still a careful operator-no power-driven equipment can be safer than the man at the controls. Don't gamble with your life and happiness - think safety and act safely under all circumstances. Farming the right way is farming the safe efficient way." The "Universal Safety" emblem is accompanied by the text: "Take Safety Seriously — Don't take needless chances" and "Farm Accidents can be prevented with YOUR help". |
