Steering The Tractor, Safety Cartoon
Cartoon from an International Harvester operator's manual. The cartoon appears below the heading: "Steering the Tractor". The cartoon depicts a man digging in the mud with a shovel and a personified tractor saying: "Use a shovel, jack, or another tractor to get me out!" A caption below the cartoon reads: "...dig out or jack up the rear wheels and fill in under them. Or, if another tractor is available, hitch it with a chain to a bolt or rod through the two holes in the front bolster of the 'stuck' tractor. The power of both tractors should be used, and a heavy pull must be kept on the chain all the time." |
