Head and shoulders studio portrait of John Henry Johnson, a sergeant in Company G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Primrose, Wisconsin. On November 11, 1861, he enlisted in Primrose, Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 13, 1861, at the age of 24. He was appointed as a sergeant on January 1, 1862, and he received commission as a chaplain on October 19, 1864, from Governor James T. Lewis of Wisconsin for Companies F and G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. He was mustered out of service on January 13, 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
