Pulverizer Mill
A male employee, Don Ferch, attends to a pulverizer mill. This unit was purchased by the Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation and used by the Public Service of Indiana Unit number 1. This specific pulverizer mill was a later component of a coal pulverizer. Original Falk caption reads, "This is a customer's standard unit. 537 HP with input at 870 RPM, ratio 27.83:1, output speed 31.26. Service factor 2.0, double ratio with 4.062 spiral bevels as first reduction, single helicals as second reduction (6.85:1 ratio). Anti-friction bearings throughout. Low speed thrust bearing is a special spherical roller SKF294/630. ALl other bearings are tapered roller bearings. Pressure lube system and cooling, oil filtering, oil metering is provided with each unit. Turning gear arrangement is provided for each set of units (such as six). Photos show hydraulic pump and motor system for testing the unit at full speed but no load. Six units are on this order." |
