Lip Ring Casting
View of a lip ring casting that is a component of a basic oxygen furnace. This particular unit was purchased by Chicago Bridge and Iron of Greenville, Pennsylvania. Falk caption reads, "Pouring lip for basic oxygen furnace. Weight is 25,000 pounds. It will be welded to shell of furnace at open end which contains the brick lining. Capacity of furnace is about 250 tons. Picture taken for possible photo caption release for news and trade papers." Male employee in photograph is Francis Chovanec. |
