Poster or display board illustrating the differences between "old" and "new" methods of harvesting grain. Includes images illustrating harvesting methods between 1800 and 1927. The images are described as follows: 1) 1800: the Sickle - half acre per day. 2) 1800-1831: the Cradle - two and a half acres per day. 3) 1831-1851: the first Reaper - 6 acres per day. 4) 1851-1880: 1851 Reaper - 6 acres per day. 5) 1880-1927: Modern Binder - 20 acres per day. 6) 1927: Tractor Binder - 40 acres per day. 7) 1927: Harvester-Thresher - 25-35 acres per day, cut and threshed. |
