"Pattern for Postwar"
"Pattern for Postwar: The Nation's Most Modern Farm Equipment Store," pp. 12-13 from "Tractor Farming" magazine, No. 2, Volume 28, 1945. The article discusses Charles C. Strohl's International Harvester dealership, located at the intersection of State Highway 121 and U.S. 66 outside of Lincoln, Illinois. The article is consistent with other articles referring to International Harvester's move to universalize the style of their dealerships, nationally and internationally, and use innovative design techniques to utilize all the space in the building for the monetary progress of the company and benefit of each location's customers. International Harvester also sought to unify their look to symbolize the progression of the U.S. during and after World War II. The dealerships built under this plan are sometimes referred to as "prototype dealerships." |
