Taft's organization was headed by Thomas Coleman, head of the state Republican Party, and Taft ultimately won the majority of Wisconsin's delegates in the contest with Harold Stassen, Earl Warren, and write-in candidacies for Dwight Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur. Wisconsin's controversial senator, Joseph R. McCarthy, took little role in the primary. |
