Senator Robert Taft Boarding Airplane
Senator Robert A. Taft of Ohio, a Republican Presidential candidate, prepares to board a Wisconsin Central airplane in Madison after meeting with supporters. Taft was then finishing a two-day tour of Wisconsin. Because of the early date of the Wisconsin Presidential primary (April 1) and the controversial status of Wisconsin's junior senator, Joseph R. McCarthy, the Wisconsin race had great importance. Addressing an audience in Monroe, Taft made his support of McCarthy clear. |
